Anita Dionne Reimer’s acting began in the cross cultural settings of Mexico, Albania, Ukraine, Sicily, and Kazakhstan. With sparse theatrical opportunities in her small hometown of Didsbury, Alberta, Anita focused on sports, but her summers were spent overseas doing drama and missions work. Upon graduating high school, Anita interned with the organization that gave her acting a start and traveled across America with Teen Mania’s World Changer Tour.
Life on the stage continued with straight shows, musicals, and Shakespeare. Anita earned her BA in Theatre at Colorado Christian University and went on to pursue an MFA at Regent University in Virginia Beach. With over thirty theatrical credits, favorite stage roles include: Annie Sullivan (Miracle Worker), Bella (Lost In Yonkers), playing eight different roles in Peer Gynt, and her thesis role of Viola in Twelfth Night.
While in Virginia, Anita was cast as a lead in Liberty Calls, a film about four sailors in the U.S. Navy. Since moving to Vancouver, Anita has starred in several independent films including Harvey Putter and The Ridiculous Premise, and multiple award winning film Jack which is currently entered in Film Festivals across North America. Her new web series Mismated which she acted in, co-wrote, and co-produced was released in April, 2010.
Before moving to Vancouver, Anita was an Assistant Professor of Theatre at Bethel College in Indiana, directing shows such as Romeo & Juliet, Pride & Prejudice, and The Miracle Worker. An avid runner herself, Anita also spent two years in New York coaching NCAA Division II Cross Country where her team won the CACC Conference Championship and she was named Coach of The Year. Currently, Anita is an Associate Instructor with stage combat organization, The Dueling Arts International. Anita speaks German and is a passionate international traveler.
